National Cherry Cobbler Day

Today we celebrate the cherry cobbler, a cherry-filled deep-dish fruit pie with a thick crust that is usually made of biscuit dough. Cobblers, which originated in the British American colonies, are named as such because of their rough look—they often look like they were cobbled together. There are various types of cobblers. Those in the South usually have a top and bottom crust. Cobblers are often topped with vanilla ice cream.
