Grange Month

Grange Month is observed throughout April as a time to recognize the service, leadership, agricultural advocacy, and community spirit of the Grange. Each April, Granges across the country highlight their work and its impact in rural and small-town communities, from community service projects and leadership development to youth engagement.

The Grange, formally known as the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, was founded in 1867. Its work is rooted in the idea that strong communities are built locally and that grassroots efforts can strengthen communities, states, and the nation. According to the National Grange’s Grange Month announcement, the month is an opportunity for Granges to welcome community members, share their stories, and demonstrate the difference their members make.

How to Observe Grange Month

Celebrate by learning about a local Grange and its work in the community. According to the National Grange, Granges can mark the month by hosting an open meeting or community event, partnering with local organizations, sharing photos and stories about service projects, and recognizing volunteers, leaders, and members. You can also learn about the organization’s youth programs and share information about the Grange with friends and neighbors.
