National CSA Day

National CSA Day encourages people to learn about Community Supported Agriculture and sign up with a CSA farm. It takes place on the last Friday in February, a time when many CSA members have historically made their sign-ups. According to research by Small Farm Central in 2015, the last week of February was when most of the nation’s CSA members signed up, leading to the term “CSA Day” being coined to help farmers promote enrollment during that period. Small Farm Central led CSA Day in its early years, when CSA farms collectively promoted their programs with unified messaging and encouraged prospective members to sign up. In 2021, the CSA Innovation Network expanded the observance into CSA Week, giving farmers, farm-support organizations, and local eaters more time to raise awareness and build engagement. How to Observe National CSA Day

Celebrate by learning about CSA farms in your area and considering whether a CSA membership is right for you. If you already belong to one, share information about it with someone who may be interested in signing up. Farmers and farm-support organizations can also use the CSA Innovation Network’s promotional resources to spread the word about CSA Day.
