Great American Pie Month

Great American Pie Month celebrates pies throughout February, inviting people to bake, share, and enjoy both sweet and savory varieties. Apple, cherry, cream, meat, and other flavors all have a place in this month-long celebration, which also highlights pie’s cultural significance in America, according to a staff-created list from the Boca Raton Public Library.

The event was declared in 1990, largely by Crisco, as a celebration of pie and its many possibilities. Whether homemade or purchased, a slice of pie offers plenty of room for creativity—and February provides a whole month to try something new.

How to Observe Great American Pie Month

Celebrate by baking a pie, ordering one from a bakery, or sharing a favorite slice with friends and family. Try a flavor you have never made before, or experiment with sweet and savory options such as apple, cherry, cream, or meat pies. You can also host a pie tasting and invite everyone to bring a different variety to share.
