National Snack Stick Day celebrates the portable smoked-sausage snack, commonly made with beef or pork. Snack sticks are convenient to carry on a hike, pack in a gym bag, enjoy during a busy day, or share with others. They also recall the older practice of preserving beef, pork, and game by smoking and aging them.
The Klement Sausage Company founded National Snack Stick Day in 2016 to celebrate “on-the-go snacks for making on-the-go lives possible,” and the Registrar at National Day Calendar approved the observance that year. The day is held annually on September 23. Klement’s announcement describes snack sticks as smoked sausage portions available in flavors ranging from sweet to spicy.
How to Observe National Snack Stick Day
Celebrate by enjoying your favorite snack stick and trying a flavor you have not had before. Pack one for a hike, a day out, or a gym bag, and bring extras to share with coworkers, classmates, friends, or family. You can also post a photo of your snack-stick celebration with #NationalSnackStickDay, as suggested in the holiday’s proclamation.
