Malbec World Day

Malbec World Day celebrates Argentina’s flagship grape and the success of its wine industry. Observed annually on April 17, the day was created by Wines of Argentina in 2011 as a global initiative to highlight Argentine Malbec.

The date commemorates April 17, 1853, when French agronomist Michel Aimé Pouget, commissioned by Argentine statesman Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, presented a project to Mendoza’s Provincial Legislature for a Quinta Normal and Agricultural School. The initiative introduced new grape varieties, including Malbec, to Argentina. Although Malbec originated in southwest France, it adapted to Argentina’s diverse viticultural regions and became an emblem of the country’s wine industry, according to Argentina’s Embassy in Singapore.

How to Observe Malbec World Day

Celebrate by enjoying a Malbec and learning about the grape’s journey from France to Argentina. You can also attend a wine tasting, vineyard tour, or themed dinner if one is available, or compare Malbecs from different regions. Raise a glass to Argentine winemakers and explore Wines of Argentina’s Malbec World Day information. kontaktannonser
