National Snack Food Month celebrates the many sweet, salty, crunchy, and savory foods enjoyed between meals. Observed throughout February, it encourages people to enjoy snacks while considering healthier choices.
The month was created in 1989 by the National Snack Food Association and the National Potato Promotion Board. According to a 2021 account of the observance, their goals were to increase snack consumption, raise awareness about snacking, and emphasize keeping it as healthy as possible. Today, February is a chance to appreciate favorite treats alongside options such as fruit, vegetables, nuts, yogurt, granola, popcorn, and edamame.
How to Observe National Snack Food Month
Celebrate by enjoying a favorite snack and trying a new one. Put together a snack plate with fresh fruit, vegetable crudités, mixed nuts, or Greek yogurt with granola and berries. You can also prepare snacks to enjoy on the go or share with friends and family. Inspired by suggestions for the month, balance indulgent treats with nourishing choices.
