With big companies dominating the advertising market, small businesses often find it hard to be heard. National Be Heard Day is a day for smaller companies to be engaged in making sure they are seen and heard, and to make sure they have effective marketing strategies. Marketing and business strategist Shannon Cherry started the day to help small businesses. As part of the day, a giveaway celebration was started. The giveaways were in the form of free services and knowledge from business and marketing experts.

In past years, resources have been given away as gifts through Shannon Cherry's website. If you are a small business owner or work at a small business, you could register for these resources. You could also go over your company's marketing plan and see if anything can be improved. If you don't own a business, spend the day shopping at or supporting a small business, and let them know that they are being heard by you!
