Bake For Family Fun Month

Bake For Family Fun Month is observed throughout February and encourages families to spend time together in the kitchen. Baking offers an inexpensive way to share recipes, family heritage, and traditions while creating new memories. The Home Baking Association designated the month in 2002 and provides recipes, activities, and learning resources for bakers of different ages.

The celebration can be organized around four weekly themes: learning baking fundamentals, making a treat for a Valentine, exploring baking history and traditions, and baking for others. These themes can turn a simple kitchen project into an opportunity to practice measuring, reading, teamwork, problem-solving, and other skills. How to Observe Bake For Family Fun Month

Celebrate by choosing a baking project that everyone can help with. Let younger bakers measure pre-portioned ingredients, stir, shape dough, or decorate cookies, while adults handle tasks that require the oven or hot pans. Allow extra time, gather all ingredients and equipment beforehand, and wash hands and countertops before and after baking. Explore a family recipe or baking tradition, then share the finished treats with family, friends, neighbors, or people in need.
