National Hero Day

National Hero Day honors real-life heroes who inspire others, display bravery, are the first to act, put others before themselves, and put in the extra work to get results. Thanks are given to these heroes, who may be teachers and mentors, or first responders, military personnel, and others who wear a uniform. These types of heroes often go unrecognized for their daily efforts to keep society running and for the little ways they inspire, so it's only right that they are honored with National Hero Day. Thanks and honor are also given to the many heroes who are everyday people who didn't know they were heroic until they rose to the occasion under pressure and accomplished some exemplary feat.

How to Observe National Hero Day

The founder of the day has suggested observing it in the following ways:

• Give a hero a shout-out on social media or bring them coffee from their favorite coffee shop.
• Bake some cookies or write them a letter. Let them know how much they inspire you, how much you appreciate them.
• Be a hero in someone's life, too. Use your talent to teach someone a vital skill.
• Donating blood
• Volunteering
• Giving to a charity that serves those in need
• Organize a fundraiser for a non-profit organization
• Listen to the needs of others and fill the void
