National Hazy IPA Day

National Hazy IPA Day celebrates the hazy IPA, a cloudy, hop-forward beer known for its silky texture, juicy fruit flavors, and generally softer bitterness than traditional American IPAs. Also called a New England-style or East Coast IPA, the style often features aromas and flavors of citrus, mango, pineapple, and other tropical fruits. The beer style emerged in New England in the early 2000s before spreading throughout the United States. National Hazy IPA Day itself began in 2023, when Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. introduced the observance to spotlight the style and invite beer fans and brewers to celebrate it. The first observance took place on August 17, 2023, and the day is now observed on the third Thursday in August, as reported by Men’s Journal.
