The United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition is a global commitment to coordinate action against malnutrition in all its forms and improve access to affordable, diverse, safe, and healthy diets. It began as a 2016–2025 initiative and was extended to 2030 by a United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted on March 24, 2025, according to the World Health Organization.
The initiative encourages sustained policies, programs, and investment across six areas: resilient food systems; health systems that provide essential nutrition actions; social protection and nutrition education; trade and investment; safe and supportive environments; and stronger governance and accountability. The United Nations General Assembly is identified as the organizer.
The extension is intended to maintain momentum toward ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization are expected to continue leading and monitoring implementation, with biennial reports to inform the General Assembly about progress.
