It's National Strawberry Parfait Day! In the United States, a parfait is a layered sundae. There may be alternating layers of ice cream, which make up the base, with syrup, fruit, fruit gelatin, liqueurs, or other garnishes in between. Frozen yogurt, yogurt, a yogurt and cream cheese mixture, pudding, or whipped cream may be used in place of ice cream. Parfaits made with yogurt are often called yogurt parfaits, or fruit parfaits when they also contain fruit. A parfait is usually served in tall, narrow, and clear glass with a short stem, and eaten with a tall spoon, but can be served in other glassware, such as in a jar. Strawberry parfaits are the focus of today's holiday. In addition to including strawberries, strawberry parfaits are frequently layered with granola or nuts. National Strawberry Parfait Day takes place during the peak of strawberry season, making it easy to celebrate!
How to Observe National Strawberry Parfait Day
Make and enjoy a strawberry parfait! If possible, use fresh strawberries, maybe ones you've even picked yourself. You could also purchase and enjoy a strawberry parfait from a restaurant, cafe, bakery, or grocery store.
