American Beer Week celebrates American-made beer and the brewing culture behind it. Held during the second full week of October, it is also known as Great American Beer Week.
American brewing has a long and varied history. Native American communities brewed beverages using corn, while European settlers brought additional brewing traditions to the colonies. German immigrants later helped popularize lager in the United States, and the craft beer movement introduced even more styles, flavors, and brewing techniques. Today, American breweries produce everything from lagers and pale ales to India pale ales and Belgian-style ales. Learn more about the history and styles of American beer.
