National Baking Week (UK) celebrates the art of baking and encourages people of all abilities to try baking at home. Observed annually for seven days from October 14 through October 20, the week welcomes everyone from complete beginners to experienced home bakers.
Pyrex launched National Baking Week in 2007 alongside other baking brands, with the aim of inspiring people to get into the kitchen and bake. The idea was promoted by the company, bloggers, recipe writers, and baking enthusiasts. Baking offers plenty of room for creativity, from cakes and cookies to breads, pastries, and other sweet or savoury treats. It can also be a shared activity, giving friends and family an opportunity to bake together and enjoy the results.
The week has been associated with Britain’s enthusiasm for baking programmes, including The Great British Bake Off, which has helped inspire interest in home baking. Whether you follow a recipe closely or experiment with your own ideas, National Baking Week is an invitation to put on an apron and give it a go.
How to Observe National Baking Week (UK)
Celebrate by baking something at home, whether it is a simple first attempt or a recipe you have been eager to try. Bake with friends or family, compare creations, or share some of your treats with neighbours and colleagues.
