California Avocado Month

California Avocado Month celebrates California-grown avocados during the crop’s peak season. California’s avocado season generally runs from spring through summer, with June typically falling in the heart of peak availability. The California Avocado Commission (CAC) established the program in 2010 to support demand for locally grown California avocados through marketing, consumer outreach, and industry promotion. Its efforts have included retail displays, advertising, public relations, recipes, and information highlighting California avocado growers. Recent coverage of the program describes the month as a way to support growers and encourage sales during the busiest part of the season.

The observance began as a seven-day event starting June 7 in 2010 and June 12 in 2011. Beginning in 2012, it expanded to cover the entire month of June.
