National Turkey Lovers’ Day celebrates turkey in all its versatile forms on the third Sunday in June. The observance encourages turkey fans to enjoy it beyond the traditional Thanksgiving meal, including in sandwiches, burgers, and turkey dogs. According to the holiday’s proclamation, turkey is enjoyed year-round for its flavor and convenience.
The National Turkey Federation submitted National Turkey Lovers’ Day, and the Registrar at National Day Calendar approved it in April 2016. Since then, the summer observance has offered an opportunity to make room for turkey on the menu.
How to Observe National Turkey Lovers' Day
Celebrate by enjoying your favorite turkey dish. Invite friends over for a cookout, fire up the grill, and make turkey burgers or turkey dogs. You can also prepare turkey sandwiches or share photos of your meal using #TurkeyLoversDay or #NationalTurkeyLoversDay, as suggested in the holiday proclamation.
